Located on the prestigious Stubbs Road in Hong Kong, this apartment is designed for a forward-thinking entrepreneur. Inspired by the Manhattan style and its urban sophistication, the home merges functionality with understated luxury. The design uses clean lines, a monolithic palette, and natural materials to bring out a calm, stylish ambiance with a focus on openness, light, and connection to nature.

Design Theme: Inherent Luxury through Form & Function

LOT Architects adopted the idea of “inherent luxury”, where elegance is expressed through simplicity. Open-plan layouts connect various functional zones—living, study, kitchen, and master suite—into one cohesive, flowing space. This spatial freedom not only enhances a sense of luxurious openness, but also invites natural light and surrounding greenery deep into the apartment.

Living Room & Study: Work-Life Balance in Style

The living room doubles as a home workspace, featuring a custom-designed marble desk placed behind the sofa. A large writable glass panel on the wall behind the desk acts as a brainstorming board—ideal for capturing spontaneous business ideas in a relaxed setting. A tailor-made wine cabinet nearby supports casual entertaining, highlighting the client’s lifestyle.

Kitchen & Dining: Functional Sophistication

The semi-open kitchen is connected to the main area via an operable sliding partition, giving the owners the choice of privacy or openness during social occasions. Natural stone surfaces and sleek cabinetry echo the minimalist and modern tone of the home.

Cigar Room: A Private Retreat in British Style

The guest bedroom has been transformed into a cigar room, complete with British-style wallpaper, ambient lighting, and high-performance ventilation for comfort and air quality. The space offers a richly textured atmosphere with a masculine touch of indulgence.

Master Suite: A Cocoon of Quiet and Comfort

The master bedroom includes a spacious walk-in closet and thoughtful design to meet the owner’s high sensitivity to sound. A custom-designed large sliding panel functions as an additional acoustic barrier beside the window, enhancing privacy and tranquility.

Manhattan-Style Bathroom: High-Tech Meets Elegance

In the ensuite bathroom, a curved electric glass wall allows for privacy with the flick of a switch, toggling between opaque and transparent. The use of metal trims and rich marble surfaces evoke an urban Manhattan aesthetic, while the curved form guides smooth circulation between areas.
