We transformed this 490 sqft. two-bedroom apartment in Hong Kong into a luxury hotel-like residence for a frequent-travelling client. With smart storage, refined finishes, and creative use of reflective materials, the compact home feels spacious, elegant, and highly functional.
Design Concept & Approach
The design vision centered on creating a compact yet luxurious apartment that functions like a personal retreat during the client’s frequent visits. We carefully integrated reflective bronze metals, tinted mirrors, and rich materials to enlarge the spatial quality while maintaining a refined aesthetic.
The living and dining areas were designed with dark marble floors and walnut wood, contrasted against a white marble TV wall. A custom-designed staircase in the living room provides access to elevated storage while doubling as a tasteful architectural feature.
To maximize efficiency, the semi-open glass kitchen visually connects to the dining area, allowing light and openness in a compact footprint. A discreet pantry was incorporated beside the dining table, aligned with a concealed corridor door to maintain seamless flow.
Bedrooms were optimized for both comfort and storage. The master bedroom features a leather headboard paired with tinted mirrors, custom closets, and a built-in TV wall opposite the queen bed. Cleverly sized hanging cabinets, a concealed dressing table, and multifunctional furniture allow both bedrooms to remain highly functional without sacrificing luxury.
Throughout the apartment, a curved ceiling was introduced to soften edges, reducing sharp transitions and contributing to a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The result is a compact yet elegant home that feels spacious, functional, and distinctly luxurious.
