MA and The Seeds of Life is a French vegan fine dining restaurant nestled in the heart of Hong Kong. The name “Ma” (French for “Mother”) references Mother Nature, reflecting the brand’s deep-rooted philosophy of nourishment, sustainability, and timeless beauty. In response, our interior design for this culinary haven is quiet, respectful, and deeply organic.

Nature as Philosophy: Interior Design Rooted in Earthly Beauty

A Curated Journey through Warm, Sensory Zones

Guests begin their journey through a minimal stone-clad entrance—quiet and contemplative. As they ascend, they are welcomed by a brush-textured copper bar, set against raw elm wood and terrazzo stone, invoking warmth and elegance with an artisanal touch.

Material Palette that Feels Hand-Touched and Rooted

A muted color scheme of natural beiges and woods creates an atmosphere that feels both calming and intimate. Throughout the space, we used textured marble walls, elm wood furniture, hand-applied plaster finishes, and custom metalwork, creating visual rhythm and tactile delight.

A Space to Nourish the Soul

The restaurant’s zoning—from entrance to bar, to private tables—follows a deliberate flow. Every corner is interspersed with design elements that invite reflection and mindfulness. It’s a space to pause, reconnect with nature, and enjoy plant-based gastronomy in its purest form.

This space honors the legacy of Chef Tina Barrat, celebrating female strength and natural wisdom. Just as her vegan dishes burst with raw flavor and nutrient-rich ingredients, the interiors glow with authenticity and intention.
