Industrial Café Design for a Bold, Uplifting Experience

Commissioned to design a unique café space within Shenzhen’s Sheraton Hotel, we were inspired by the concept of “Hero”—a space that uplifts and energizes guests, offering a break from routine and a boost to their day.

Taking advantage of the café’s rare double-ceiling height, we created a mezzanine floor that adds depth and function to the vertical space. This elevated corner offers a cozy retreat for guests who seek a more private coffee experience, while maintaining visual connection to the open ground floor.

We embraced a raw, authentic industrial design language using tactile, durable materials. The lightweight concrete block walls, exposed fair-faced concrete surfaces, handcrafted antique floor tiles, and heavy black metal shopfront framing work together to create a bold, textured atmosphere.

The resulting ambiance is both rugged and warm, echoing the strength of a “hero” while providing a welcoming escape from the urban pace. It is a design that aligns perfectly with the brand’s bold message—to lift people up through space, design, and coffee.
